The selection process is made based on a multitude of factors, including, but not being limited to:
As the event aims to bring together and showcase talented musicians from international schools around Bangkok, creating an equal opportunity for all acts and a fair amount of participants from each school is a priority. Awards System for Performances
This year, performances will be recognized by an audience vote (a live poll will be running and casted throughout the event), to continue to ‘battle of the bands’ spirit of Mixed Up!. The categories by which bands can be awarded are as follows:
Best-Dressed From school uniform to onesies, Mixed Up! has seen every fashion trend (and non-trend) on stage. This year, we'll recognize the band that blows their audience away - either through surprise, appeal, or a combination of the two - by the way they dress, adding to their stage presence and performance overall. Some ideas could be theme or colour scheme coordination (or slow loris costumes?!). |
Performance OriginalityThrough their time on stage, performers demonstrate creativity - a unique and pointed sense of style, be it musically or otherwise. Performers could present a never-before-heard-of interpretation of a song, putting their own twist on musical technicalities, or stand out amongst all the other bands in the way they present and express themselves.
|
Crowd Hype (Crowd Engagement) The performance demonstrates a level of interaction both between the band members and audience that contributes to a lively atmosphere. Band chemistry, stage presence, and audience interaction are just some of the ways in which this can be seen. A band that rocks their own socks off, and that of the audience, is bound to receive some credit for doing so.

All performances will be judged based on the same criteria, regardless of the performance size (i.e. there will be no distinguishing between solo/duets and bands, as with past concerts). Please keep in mind that these 'awards' are meant to be an enjoyable, light-hearted way in which performances can be recognized for their strengths, and for the audience to connect with their performers. Collaboration always > competition when it's got to do with Mixed Up!. ;)
