About us
Mixed Up! is an annual fundraising event held at NIST International School. As an inter-school concert involving various international schools around Thailand, it aims to bring together students, to support Love Wildlife Foundation’s Slow Loris program.
To get a feel for the event, visit our YouTube Channel and/or Facebook page.
All proceeds will be going to the Love Wildlife Foundation to support Slow Loris enclosures (providing funds for supplementary food, medicine, medical equipment and new enclosures) at the Bang Phra Waterbird Center (in Pattaya) – needed for slow lorises which are being rescued from animal trafficking across Southeast Asia.
For the academic year of 2018-2019, Mixed Up! aims to host Mixed Up! 2019: The Spirit of the Jungle with a stronger community feel. Alongside supporting Love Wildlife and raising awareness about the plight of Slow Lorises, the event aims to be a centralizer for community - be it musicians and students from international schools in the Bangkok region, parents and staff, or others in the Bangkok community and beyond. Mixed Up! in the past... |
Mixed Up! has been an annual tradition at NIST for almost 10 years. The first-ever Mixed Up! was held in 2008, and was a showcase of NIST musicians (soloists, rappers, DJs, bands, you name it) from Years 7-13. It was a chance for the community to enjoy a night of great music, and to bring together musicians from across the secondary school, to connect and 'mix it up' (hence Mixed Up!). In 2013, Mixed Up! began to branch out to other international school in the Bangkok region, expanding the Mixed Up! community, bringing togethe ever more talented, like-minded students. The event also worked its way towards becoming a battle-of-the-bands by 2014. Since, Mixed Up! has evolved into a service-based project as well, linking up with the Youth Ecological Network (YEN), launching, Mixed Up: Call of the Wild (2014). YEN works closely with Love Wildlife Foundation to help advocate for the environment, with Mixed Up! focusing the plight of Slow Lorises, through directly supporting Love Wildlife Foundation’s Slow Loris program. Maintaining the heart of Mixed Up!, the event continues to foster a sense of community, by showcasing talented musicians from various international schools in Bangkok every year. | #MixedUpConcert #SaveTheLoris |
